I didn't see the "lafemmbonita" icon, so I thought something happened. Must have been just a glich with the browser.

Here's something you may want to look into:

New York, NY - Many New York City hospitals are exploiting increasing demand for deluxe maternity facilities by offering a whole new level of comfort.

Such is the competition for their lucrative birthing dollars, they're wooing parents-to-be with the promise of pampered treatments rivaling the comforts of the city's top hotels.

For example, in midtown, Roosevelt Hospital (of the merged St. Luke's-Roosevelt complex) has started charging $750 a day for one of its newly opened, private postpartum rooms.

The fee includes a host of services - including overnight accommodation for the baby's other parent or "support person," an on-call concierge, a basket of personal grooming items, newspapers, specialist gourmet meals, including high tea, flat-screen television sets and an extensive DVD library.

On the upper East Side, Mount Sinai Hospital charges between $500 and $850 a day for a private room, depending on its size and the view from the window. [nydailynews]

lol - actually i'd like to give birth at home...waaaay cheaper and i get to sleep in my own bed!

If not, I'll be giving birth at The Birth Center (www.thebirthcenter.org), a free standing center, with a midwife. I don't do doctors or hospitals.

I hear ya. As my wife always says
"A hospital is no place for a sick person."

I totally agree! And it applies all the more so to pregnant women. Pregnant women aren't sick - they are having a baby!
