School and Baseball......

So baseball fever has hit Philly in the wake of the World Series win.  I couldnt care less about baseball.....or any other sport for that matter - so maybe thats my issue with the following comments and I acknowledge my lack of team spirit, but heres the deal.....

Last night Zev's school sent a mass voicemail to parents (yes, a very fancy system, who's stated purpose was to inform parents when there is an emergency - yea ok) saying that the children should come to school wearing red and white today and that the children would be participating at school in a large rally in honor of the Phillies........

Um, hello  - i have issues here!!  How about some parsha which Zev has yet to learn this year....how about you go back and teach my kid something about sukkos and simchas torah - cuz he learned NUTHIN'!  Im really not happy paying almost $2k/month in tuition to have my kid go to a rally for a baseball team........

Sure - Im all about fun......and I really dont begrudge anyone their sports - to each their own....but seriously!!!

Steven saying Im being unreasonable, maybe I am.

2k/mo !?!!?!
Sounds like you have bigger issues with the school then their curriculum.

Yah, 2k is a freakin scary amount of dough.

Re: Phillies, I think its not such a bad idea, kids will remember that the school took them out in honor of the win.

My school administrator told me to "rob a bank" to pay tuition and wer'e payin half what you are....
OUCH !!! The alternative use for stockings is starting to look very appealing........

Choose the bank that you decide to rob wisely......not many with cash on hand these days!

I totally have to agree with you on this point. Sports enthusiasts dont have a right to mass-produce enthusiasm in other people (especially kids!) I feel sometimes that the general American obsession with sports goes so far that it has a way of taking away children's personal choices and other freedom of expression (when you go into a store to buy your kid a top and every freakin' thing has either METS or Yankee logo on it, there is something wrong with that. And this WAS NOT a sports store too!). So yeah, I have to agree with you on this point.
